First off, I want to say that yes I know that the ‘new’ Mordekaiser is technically not new because he was reworked in 2019. I know, that’s a while ago, it’s been like 6 years yes, lol, I know. Also, for those who don’t play League of Legends or have no knowledge on it, you probably won’t understand this post, so yeah, sorry lol. I’m gonna keep going though lol. Anyways, in short, Mordekaiser is a champion in League of Legends who they completely changed 6 years ago. They changed his design and abilities. It could be that I just don’t care about video games anymore or getting good anymore, that’s why I lose a lot with the new Mordekaiser, but I have some points that I use to justify why i’m losing (or have in the past), when I think I should be winning.
First off, it doesn’t matter whether I outplay my laner and am dominating my life. Why? Well, ~60% of the ranked games i’d play as Mordekaiser I would outplay my laner, win lane, get so many kills, etc. And I know the exact outcome of every decision I made after that.
I either dominate my laner and am like 5/0 or something and he is 0/5. I remember many scenarios after that. I either keep pushing and even get to their second turret in my lane. Then, usually my team is either losing, or we’re even with the enemy, or have a big lead. Either way, they’d send people to kill me and i’d have to 1v2 or 1v3. I’d play it very safe on these occasions and watch the mini map and back off if they sent their team to 3 v 1 me or something. I’d usually always be able to kill all of them anyways at this point and take their second tower. Now, it’s the hard part. The majority of games where I got to this point, I was winning hard but my team was losing in all lanes or whatever. Therefore, the enemy team was fed as hell ( besides my laner I went against ).
But now it’s too hard, i’m at their tower in their base. They can easily send five people and they can kill me and I can’t run away. I could use my ultimate to single one guy out but that’s it! I kill one and then die. Then they’d do this every time. They’re all so close to eachother they can easily send their whole team to just kill me. So I’d never be able to get their first top turret in their base! So what do I do? I could visibly see when they’d send the whole team to gank me! So I either run away every time, which inevitably leads to me never killing anyone or getting any turrets due to me backing off 24/7. Or, I act oblivious and just hit their turret despite knowing i’d probably die? Or, I try to tell my team to help push my lane? I never tried that. Why? I’m playing with silver players. Them coming top lane to help me is unheard of. None of them usually listen, anyways, and I don’t even like talking in game either really..
So, I could also try to coordinate with my team so they’d get other turrets and push their lanes while the enemy was trying to gank me? Wrong! Usually my teammates were all so behind and weak at this point! So, I should just group with them at mid or bot lane right? Again! Wrong! If I decide to forfeit my advantage in my lane and group with my team, my enemy top laner just pushes my lane and my team tells me to go back!
So just ignore them and help them anyway right?! Wrong again! Why? Mordekaiser’s kit. NO ONE is talking about it. His ultimate is an ability where you choose an enemy and take them into a ‘realm’ where it’s only you (Mordekaiser) and the enemy, trapped in there for seven seconds.
No one else can see you and the enemy in there. Why is that bad? If my team, per usual, has lost their lanes and is extremely behind while the enemy is fed, how can I help them if i’m the only one on the team who is fed and my ultimate separates me from them? It basically negates all the hard work I did, since I can’t really help my team in teamfights!
Ok, so you might say, for me to ult the most fed person on their team? Well, good idea, but most of the time, if my team has lost their lanes and even my jungle is behind (per usual), then that means that more than one person on the enemy team is fed and powerful. Therefore, I could ult the most powerful member and kill them, but my team still has to do a 4v4. And the other four on the enemy team usually have some more fed and powerful members than my team and so my team would usually lose the fight.
Honestly, because of Mordekaiser’s ultimate, he literally feels like you’re playing a narcisst or some antisocial character that doesn’t want to/can’t help your team. It pisses me off so much the amount of times i’d do so well in lane, putting so much effort and calculation into outplaying the enemy laner, and losing anyway. I feel like I tried every strategy to win with him. I probably could learn more but i’m taking a break from League for now. Also what’s sad is that besides Mordekaiser, I don’t like other champions as much, so I don’t want to play anyone else. Not to mention how toxic the game is, which is also a reason why I don’t like it. Plus, it’s so addictive. It’s like any other game with a ranked/competitive play. But, since this is the first game I played ranked in and that I played so much of it, it has forever ingrained into my brain to play it whenever i’m bored or want a dopamine hit from a ranked win.
What also sucks is the design of it all. The fact that it’s a video game where you just sit back, relax and play and have fun and you could even get the impression that you accomplished something important from winning a ranked game is crazy. What other activities have that? Drawing? Writing? Reading. Unless you get paid to do it or you get many people to see your work or give feedback, you’re missing the competitiveness from a video game.. That feeling of beating five other players or so, and the game setting up the system for you.. All you have to do is play and have fun while also taking it a bit seriously. Then you rank up and up and feel great.. that’s life I guess.
So yeah, i’m on a break for now. Maybe the Mordekaiser rework was a blessing to make me stop playing? Who knows.. cause it’s not like I feel i’m doing anything more productive instead of playing.. lol.
